I love this spectacular piece in an entry - the perfect place to hang raincoats and store umbrellas on a rainy day like today. Josef Hoffmann, circa 1930's.
I am very excited to show the results of our table makeover! It took a little bit of trial and error to get the table to take a whitewashed stain, but in the end it was the perfect combination of modern and rustic. I used dried flowers as the centerpiece to highlight the colors of the season. Also on the table is a Juliska pitcher, a cheeseboard from Pier 1 and custom made napkins from a Balinese fabric I purchased on our honeymoon.
The best part about a new piece of furniture is enjoying it! We celebrated by having a small dinner party and setting the table using Waterford linens and antique brass candlesticks.
The swivel chair is nothing new, however the combination of being chic and practical has made it a classic. Below are two examples, the Milo Baughman original and a modern version for those on a tighter budget. These are a great addition for any living space.
These chic round sofas are more common than one might think. The graceful shape is a fresh take on a traditional seating area.
Nothing says lush like a velvet sofa. I love the bold green and a muted pink and unexpected choices for a sofa.
These Marcel Breuer dining chairs can be spotted all over design magazines. They bring me back to a time when this design was the go-to style for a kitchen chair.
Dreaming of reading a book in this perfect chair - it is cozy, calming AND stylish.
The Tired Man Chair, Flemming Lassen, c. 1935.
It is a small detail, but adding a hand applied element to any piece a furniture leg can make a big impact. Dipped furniture is popping up everywhere.
Daybed by Kaare Klint, 1917. Wishing it was still the weekend and we were lounging on one of these.
